Competition Forms

SuGO_Competition_Overview.pdf
This document describes the overall SuGO competition process. It's a great place to start if you just want to understand the basic process.

SuGO_Rules.pdf
This document is a detailed list of rules associated with a SuGO competition and robot. It describes the robot requirements, rules of play and how scoring is performed.

SuGO_Team_Registration.pdf
This form is used to establish SuGO teams at an event, and assign people to those Teams. It establishes the team name and number, and records: name, age and guardian contact info.

SuGO_Table_Tents.pdf
Each team at the competition is given a folded Table Tent to identify them (with their team number). This is placed on their table during construction, and is carried with the robot during competitions.

SimpleSuGObot.pdf
Here is a quick Build Guide for a Simple SuGObot. It makes a great Starter Bot for a first-time rookie team. Have a few copies of these instructions printed out, and available at competitions. Laminate them of you want them to last.

SuGO_Robot_Checklist.pdf
Before competing in a competition, each robot must be "inspected" to ensure it's legal. This includes a parts check, a size test and weight check. This form is used to record the results of this inspection process. The form is also great for MC's to use when calling teams.

SuGO_Bookmark_Champion.jpg
If you want to recognize the champion of a SuGO competition, this artwork can be turned into a series of bookmarks that can be laminated as award certificates.

SuGO_Bookmark_Runner_Up.jpg
If you want to recognize the runner up of a SuGO competition, this artwork can be turned into a series of bookmarks that can be laminated as award certificates.

SuGO_Double_Elimination_Brackets.pdf
This document contains a printable version of the elimination brackets for SuGO matches ranging from 3 to 16 contestants. These can be printed and used to run a competition. The first page contains instructions for their use.

SuGO_Double_Elimination_Brackets.xls
This is a spreadsheet which runs the elimination brackets for SuGO matches ranging from 3 to 16 contestants. These can be used live (on a projection screen) to automate the scoring of a competition. The first page contains instructions for their use.

SuGO_Double_Elimination_Brackets.zip
This is a zip file containing several versions of the spreadsheet which runs the elimination brackets for SuGO matches ranging from 3 to 16 contestants.
If you cannot run Excel on a PC, then you may find a version of the spreadshhet in this file that will work for you. There is an Open Office version and a Mac version.

Building & Programming Information for "WHITE BOX" SuGO Kits (These are now being used for all SOP trainings.)
WHITE BOX SuGO Robot Kits are based on the LEGO Education NXT 2.1 Kit, and they include two standard light sensors. So, the correct programs all have "PV1" in their names. Use the files below if you are building with two "light" sensors.

Mechanic_PV1_User_Guide.pdf
This is a GREAT 2-page illustrated guide for how to hook up the various motors and sensors on a SuGO bot.
It also explains how to use the "Mechanic" program to verify that everything is hooked up correctly.
Every team should be provided with a copy of this document on game day so they can pre-test their robots before inspection.

Mechanic_PV1.rbtx
This program is loaded onto the SuGO bot to test all the sensor and motor functions. Load this program BEFORE loading the actual SuGO PV1 Program.
This is actually a "Pack and Go" file for the Mechanic C2 program.
This may be openned by any LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT 2.0 or higher software program, and it will extract itself into a series of files. These files include the mechanic PV1 program, as well as several sound files and program Blocks.

SuGO_PV1.rbtx
This program is loaded onto the SuGO bot to run a basic SuGO match. Load this program AFTER loading the Mechanic PV1 Program.

Building & Programming Information for "BLUE BOX" SuGO Kits (These were used in 2012 and earlier)
BLUE BOX SuGO Robot Kits are based on the retail NXT 2.0 Kit, and they include both a color sensor and a light sensor. So, the correct programs all have "C2" in their names. Use the files below if you are building with a color sensor AND a line sensor.

SuGO kit Parts-Tray picture
This picture shows a suggested way to organize your LEGO parts in the orange bin provided with your SuGO Outreach Robot Kit. Keeping your parts organized will be a GREAT help when it comes time to build your next SuGObot. Having to hunt through a pile of random parts is no fun at all!
